Superhot, the unique FPS that was funded on Kickstarter, is coming soon. Developer Superhot Team has announced that the shooter will launch for PC (Windows, Mac, and Linux) on February 25. The Xbox One version will follow “just a few weeks later.” A new trailer for the game was also released today.
The hook for Superhot is that time only moves when the player does, giving it something of a strategy/puzzle game feel. Additionally, there is no health-regeneration and ammo is not found scattered all over the place as it is in other FPS games.
Superhot was originally made as part of the 7 Day FPS game jam back in 2013, with a free browser version released later that year. A Kickstarter campaign for a more fleshed out version began in 2014, and was a success, raising more than $250,000 from close to 12,000 backers.
“We took our sweet time,” developers said in an update to the game’s Kickstarter page. “What started out as a small passion project ended up becoming a 2.5-year adventure. Superhot has far outgrown our wildest expectations.
“It changed and evolved over time. It kept involving more and more people along the way. Tens of thousands of you believed in the project and supported us throughout the development. Millions played the prototype and prerelease versions, providing invaluable feedback.”
